The weekly timetable for the 2024/25 season is available below.
Please ensure players have both a gumshield and shinpads; otherwise, they may be refused to train for safety.
Please also bring a hockey stick; however, the club can lend you one if you do not own one.
NextGen at OGHC
At Old Georgian's Hockey Club, our NextGen programme is at the heart of our mission to create and sustain success. Training mid-week between 18:30-20:00, we believe in providing the best possible environment for young players to develop their skills, enjoy the game, and build lasting friendships.
Below, you'll find detailed information about our programme structure, key initiatives, and upcoming events.
Key Components of Our NextGen Programme:
Coaching Structure:
Development Leads: Each team is supported by a Development Lead who co-coaches alongside the age group lead and assistant coaches. This ensures a high level of coaching and consistent development across all age groups.
Assistant Coaches: Our assistant coaches bring additional expertise and support, helping to provide a well-rounded coaching experience.
OGHC DNA:
Our coaching philosophy is centred around the OGHC DNA, which focuses on creating and sustaining success. This includes:
On Ball: Emphasising goal-scoring opportunities, purposeful possession, and attacking space.
Off Ball: Developing counter-attacking skills, dispossession techniques, and defensive strategies to maintain clean sheets.
360 Technical Comfort: Ensuring players are comfortable with the ball in any position and capable of effective defensive manoeuvres.
Player Development Focus:
People: Encouraging a love for the game, team spirit, and a keen attitude towards learning and competing.
Athletes: Building stamina, agility, and speed to meet the demands of every position on the field.
NextGen Camps:
Our NextGen camps provide additional coaching support and attract new players to our Junior Section. These camps are held during October, February, May half-terms, Easter, and summer holidays.
OGHC Minis:
For our youngest players, the OGHC Minis programme offers a fun introduction to hockey. Training sessions are held on Sunday mornings, focusing on foundational skills and fostering a love for the game.
Membership Fees and Parent Support:
Our membership fees remain unchanged this season, ensuring accessibility for all families.
We rely on parent volunteers to fill roles such as team managers, umpires, and warm-up coordinators. Training sessions will be provided to support parents in these roles.
Upcoming Events:
PJJ Day (8th September): Join us for our annual club day, featuring training sessions, a mixed tournament, fun activities, and on-site kit purchases. This event marks the start of the hockey season and honours Peter Johan Jansen, one of the club's founders.
