The long-awaited Paris 2024 Olympics are finally here, and we are just hours away from witnessing some exhilarating hockey action. This year, the Old Georgians Hockey Club is proud to see several of its current and former players representing their countries on the grandest stage of them all.
For Great Britain, we have Sam Ward, Phil Roper, David Ames, James Albery, and Liam Sandford. Their dedication and hard work have led them to this pivotal moment, and we are confident they will make us proud. Additionally, we are thrilled to see former players Lee Morton (Great Britain), Nick Page (Ireland), and Keenan Horne (South Africa) competing in the Games.
In a special highlight, Kyle Marshall, who has triumphantly returned to full fitness after breaking his hand during the qualifiers, will represent Ireland. His first match is a challenging fixture against one of the gold medal favourites, Belgium, kicking off at 09:30 BST. Speaking ahead of the opening ceremony, Kyle shared his excitement and determination:
"We have settled into the village well and are enjoying our prep. It's been an incredible experience so far but now it's time to focus in on what we're here to do. We are looking forward to the challenge of the coming days."
