12/11/2024

Women’s 1XI Battle to Draw Against League Leaders

The Women’s 1XI put up a courageous fight against league leaders Teddington, securing a hard-earned 2-2 draw at St George’s College. Rosie Macpherson opened the scoring for OGs in the 53rd minute with a well-executed penalty corner. Teddington equalised soon after through Isabella Robson’s penalty corner in the 60th minute, but OGs hit back swiftly. Orna Bools struck in the 63rd minute to restore the lead, sparking hopes of a statement win. However, with just three minutes remaining, Teddington’s Mel Ball found the net, levelling the score and closing out a tense contest. The result keeps OGs fifth in the Women’s Conference East, as they look to build on this performance.

Women’s 2XI Put On a Goal-Scoring Clinic

The Women’s 2XI were in relentless form, dismantling Team Surrey Spartans 10-1 in an away match that showcased their depth in attack. Becca Battersby and Charlotte Graham led the scoring with two goals each, joined by Gisella Bernabo, Bethan James, Joce Glynn, Katie Macdonald, and Riley Morris. The dominant display reinforces OGs’ growing presence in the South East Women’s Division 1 West, as they continue to push higher up the league standings.

Women’s 3XI Thrash Oxted with Six-Goal Display

It was another emphatic win for the Women’s 3XI, who delivered a clinical 6-0 victory over Oxted 2. OGs shared the scoring load, with Lesley Anne Tomlinson grabbing a brace, while Maddie McCarthy, Paula Ashall, Izzy Oliveira, and Monica Younghusband each added a goal. The result keeps OGs in a strong position in the South East Women’s Division 1 Oaks, and their sights are set on breaking into the top spots.

Women’s 4XI Reign Supreme at the Top

Continuing their remarkable form, the Women’s 4XI strengthened their lead at the top of the South East Women’s Division 2 Oaks with a resounding 5-1 victory over Aldershot & Farnham 3. Goals from Megan Coe, Tanya TC Hall, Talia May Packham, and Elize Brown secured the three points, leaving OGs 4XI two points clear of their closest competition. With 18 points from 7 games, the 4XI are proving to be the team to beat this season.

It was an outstanding weekend for the Old Georgians’ women’s squads, with confident victories and impressive team performances across the board. From thrilling battles to high-scoring displays, OGs continue to show they’re a force to be reckoned with in their respective divisions. As we head deeper into the season, all four teams are primed to keep the momentum rolling.
